The Royal Burgh of Haddington is an ancient town in East Lothian, Scotland, 20 miles (32 km) east of Edinburgh. It’s the administrative, cultural and geographical centre of the area.
In the Middle Ages it was the fourth largest city in the land. Today it is a small, but growing, town with population of 9,000. Situated on the River Tyne’s north-east bank it was once famous for its mills and tanneries. These days its river walks and footpaths are at the heart of local recreation, from dog walking to cycling and running.
